Week 10 - Vector Analysis

Image
For week 10 and also week 9, we spent time working with vector analysis. Within with we work specifically with buffering tools, union overlays, erase tool, intersect tool, and even started the use of ArcPython. Along with previous tools, we are able to no just overlap layers but we can dissolve layers into each other to give a cleaner look. These are some of many tools we've learned to build up towards the final project that's in a couple weeks. The map above showcases the use of the new tools learn to perform a vector analysis.

Week 7-8 - Midterm Data Search

For Week 7-8 of GIS Lab, we've finally reached a bit over halfway in the class and this lab put all of us to the test and show what we've learned so far. Much of this lab was derived from the previous lanb which was Projection 2 with a combination of the very earlier lab. A county in Florida was assigned to everyone for the project and my county was Bay County, FL  We had to construct 1-3 maps with vector data layers, environmental layers, DOQQs, and a DEM to make some type of sense to the viewer. Along with that, we had to make sure all the layer were in same projection which is very important for accuracy and good practice. The maps above showcased them required layers. One map showcases the roads, rivers, State Parks, and cities of Bay County. Another shows a DEM perspective of Bay County and the last map shows the invasive plants and land cover in Bay County with a DOQQ quarter quad of Panama City.
